Simon Tozer studied painting at Portsmouth, followed by an MA in Printmaking in 1991 at Chelsea College of Art, where he received the British Institution Fund Award for printmaking. He remained in London after completing the MA for ten years, working primarily as a scenic and mural painter. He continues to paint murals commercially as one half of the almost married mural team, Wallis Tozer. In addition he works as an artist in schools.

Simon Tozer is founder member of the Miserablist school, a little known art movement whose ranks have not yet exceeded two. Themes that re-occur in his work are the idea of the journey or quest, and animals, and their relationship with people.
