Terms and Conditions SNAP Introductory workshops Snap is pleased to open its doors to offer courses in screen-printing and bookbinding. Read on to find out more about what we offer, and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate contacting us, by phone, email or visit the shop where you will always meet one of SNAP’s 8 artist members. Screen-printing workshops with various SNAP printmakers Workshops provide participants with an introduction to screen-printingincluding an understanding of both the technical and the creative aspects of the process. SNAP runs these workshops in two formats: 1 day (six hours) and 2 day (3 hours per day). By working with any one of the different artists at SNAP, you will be shown various ways to work with your own designs and drawings, or to use printmaking as a creative process in itself, to produce unique artworks for you to take away with you at the end of the day. By taking a look at artworks in the gallery as examples, our artists will be able to show you a variety of methods to replicate your ideas in print form, using mark making, drawing and pattern, text and photography to build images in several colours. (3 spaces available per workshop) An Introduction to Non-Adhesive Bookbinding This is a perfect introduction to bookbinding with Bristol based printmaker and book artist Tortie Rye. By working simply with basic stitches and folding, you will come away from this intensive beginners’ course with a number of binding skills under your belt, not to mention a nice bundle of colourful note books all made by you during the day. Some of the soft cover binding forms will include variations on simple pamphlet stitches, concertina structures, Japanese stab bindings, French sewn books and an open spine buttonhole book. Specialist bookbinding tools will be available to use, so just come along with nimble fingers and a little bit of patience on this very satisfying day. Paper, tools and materials are provided, as is the all important fuel for the day: tea and cake. (5 spaces available per workshop) Workshops are held at SNAP Email: snap@snapstudio.org.uk Workshop times Unless otherwise stated by the artist running the course, times for workshops are as follows: 1 day workshops: 10am – 4pm (30 minute break for lunch) Please arrive promptly for the workshop so that it can begin on time. Workshop dates Please take a look at our scheduled workshop dates, for a variety of classes, run by different members at SNAP. If you would like to arrange a date for a workshop with 2 other people, then SNAP welcomes your suggestions. We will always do our best to cater for the interests of our customers, and can provide bespoke workshops upon request. Please note that prices could vary, but SNAP will be more than happy to discuss your ideas with you. Seasonal Workshops How about printing your own Christmas cards with some friends? Along with some festive fuel in the form of sherry and mince pies, this workshop will get you in the mood for Christmas, at the same time as producing some very special cards to send to your loved ones. Think of a date and we will try our best to fit you in. Are the screen-printing workshops for you? Introductory workshops are, well, introductory. Our aim is to teach you the basics of screen-printing and give you the opportunity to have a go at printing something for yourself. If you already have experience screen-printing and just want to use the facilities these workshops are probably not for you. We are hoping to offer more advanced workshops, or even open access time in the near future, so stay tuned! Are the bookbinding workshops for you? Bookbinding workshops are similarly introductory. If you are looking to restore old books, then this course will not be for you, as the focus is on making new books rather than conserving old ones. These classes will teach you a number of stitches and book structure techniques, to enable you to make your own books from scratch. Equipment and materials SNAP will provide you with everything you need for your workshop, and basic material costs are included in the workshop fee. If you wish to bring alternative papers to print onto, you are more than welcome to do so. If you are required to bring anything specific to a particular workshop the artist running the course will contact you in advance to give you details. SNAP will provide aprons to wear when printing, but you may wish to bring your own if you prefer. Please wear clothing suitable for printing in- as inks are water-based, but we cannot guarantee that they will wash out of clothing. Refreshments SNAP will provide you with regular refreshments, including tea and coffee during your workshop. If you are attending a one-day workshop, please bring along some lunch, which you are more than welcome to eat at SNAP. Alternatively there are a number of cafes and sandwich shops near SNAP, for eating in, or take away lunches. Contact with the artist In order that SNAP, or the artist taking the workshop can send you any necessary information in advance of the workshop, please ensure you provide us with an email address and phone number. The artist taking the course may well be in touch with you the week before the class takes place, to let you know any important details, or simply as a reminder that the class is soon approaching. Workshop prices and payments One day and 2x evening workshops are all £60, unless specified on the workshop details. The full cost of the workshop is payable upon booking, and payments can be made in the shop, by cash, cheque or credit/debit card, over the phone using a credit/debit card, or you can send us a cheque, payable to SNAP Studio Ltd. Please note that your place on the course is only secured once payment has been made. Due to the high interest, and limited spaces available in each workshop, we cannot reserve places before we receive payment. Concessions SNAP is able to offer a concessionary rate to Students who provide a current
NUS card at the time of booking.
The concessionary workshop fee is £45, and will only be available upon
providing student ID. Children’s workshops SNAP regrets it is unable to provide workshops for groups of unaccompanied children. If you would like to discuss the option of bringing a child as part of a group with adults, or the option of a children’s screenprinting party at your home, please get in touch. Prices may vary, as this option will be different to the scheduled workshops. Cancellation If SNAP needs to cancel… If you need to cancel… |
